Who Am I?

It is important to pass down family history so memories don't get lost. A way to pass down family history is to tell the future generation in a family stories of the past and to show them photos. My parents have many photo albums that can already pass a lot of history. My family don't really have many traditions but we do go to Mexico at least once a year and normally more and we also do things like go to a San Diego Aztecs game every year. In the future, I wanna be remembered as a successful person, I want a successful career as an engineer. I don't now much about my family history since it was a long time ago that they came to the US but I think that if I asked my Nana I could find out a bit because she has a lot of family things from the past in a box like a family tree and also some paper that was given to somebody who served for the county in a big war. I know that some of my family comes from Irish, German, and Dutch decent but I also think that there a lot more place...

What I Learnt From the Personal Finance Unit

 The personal finance unit taught me a bit of things but there are some things from it that really stood out to me. One of the things that I somehow didn't know before the unit was what credit cards actually are. I learnt that the money on credit cards isn't actually your own money and that it is loaned. I also learned about how interest can be a big problem for some people because when people choose to repay money as slow as possible, it makes the amount they need to repay so much higher than the original price.  After the unit, I know that I should be very aware with my money and to avoid things like overspending. I know that I shouldn't be pressured to buy things from other people or advertisements just because of the thought that since they have it, I should too. I also know that I should look into everything before I spend because something can look good but actually be awful, or something can look like a really good deal but actually be a terrible deal. I think that what I did wrong was not doing enough for the reasoning and evidence, and not fully understanding how to do them. Both my reasoning and evidence were pretty similar to each other because I just listed an order of events that led to Edison's success, then I explained why I listed the order events with a 3 sentence summary. I think that I could do better with projects in the future like this one if I ask for help more and if I put more work into the main project than the extra credit sections, and I should also take advantage of ALL of the extra credit because for this project is only used 2/3 of them. ...

Blinded by the Light Blog

 I enjoyed watching the movie Blinded by the Light . It had a lot of meaning to it and Javed was a cool character. I saw the problems that race caused in the UK and how some Pakistani families run. Javed's passion is to be a writer and he works really hard at it and even goes to America to give a speech on his writing. For a while, Javed's dad did not approve of his writing but then Javed proved his dad that it was actually a good thing. Javed's dad is the main thing that makes it harder for him to pursue his passion. Another thing that hinders him with his passion is the racism since many people in the UK disapprove of Pakistanis in the time the movie takes place. Also, Javed's only support was his English teacher who at first he wasn't as close with so he didn't have much support until he became closer with his teacher. Javed's muse is Bruce Springsteen. My First Blog Ever!

Hello, my name is Donovan Stark, I am 14 years old, I am a freshman at El Camino High School, and I’m enjoying my experience so far. All of my teachers are good and I think I will enjoy Biotech when we actually start to do things. My goal is to make it through the year with good grades to hopefully get a 4.0. Outside of school I play games and I mountain bike and ski for “physical activity” but I have tried and stopped doing many sports throughout my childhood. I’m lucky to have a lot of good friends but I was unlucky to get almost none in any of my classes. I think that 21st Century will be a very helpful class for me but I am not excited about doing a TED talk and it makes me nervous. I’m hoping that I will be able to meet the requirements at the end of high school to get into a good college and then become an engineer because I like to build things.
